I attended the first meeting of a new networking group at Kidderminster Harriers ground this morning. The group is the Worcestershire Networking Business Hub and will meet every other Thursday 7.15 to 9.15am at the Harriers. The next meeting is on the 14th March. This first event was attended by 18 business owners from Worcestershire and was an extremely supportive event for those new to networking as well as giving those, who are seasoned networkers, an opportunity to promote their businesses. It is hoped that all those business owners who said they were coming but didn’t make it will come to the next meeting to help the current members build on what was a very successful first event. We will welcome any first time visitors as well as this morning’s non attendees.
Monday; one of my clients, based in Hereford, had their 3 year review of their ISO14001 certification which resulted in only 1 observation and no non compliances. Also on Monday I was given the go ahead by a computer software company based in Malvern to put the ISO9001 Management systems in for them to enable them to go for accreditation.
Tuesday; I met the MD and the Operations Dirsctor of a company based in Cannock to discuss what would be needed for them to achieve ISO9001 accreditation followed by ISO14001. Following the meeting I was given the go ahead to put the management Systems in for them. The company has several large prestigous customers and currently employs 25 people and is aiming to grow the business significantly by expanding the business to reduce its reliance on the Utility companies.
These 2 contracts I have been awarded will increase my overall business income by at least 25%.
Today Wednesday; I attended the Worcester Business Breakfast club at the Fownes Hotel Worcester. This group consists of a number of business owners who help each other to enhance their businesses.
It is a fully independant breakfast club with no joining fees and we are always looking for new members to widen the expertise in the club. All visitors are made very welcome. the club web site is http://www.businessbreakfast.org.uk
The meeting of the networking club this featured a presentation by David Chill of VIP in which he took us through the variuos stages of the development of his Ribbon Printing Business and showed how various members of the club had given him valuable advice at each stage of the devlopment which had helped him tailor the business to bring it to the stage it is now. A prime example of how a group of individuals in the club have combined their skills to assist another member to develop a new business.
We are a group of small businesses who are always looking to help our members and visitors to the club.
Ray and myself did a series of internal audits yesterday for ISO9001 and ISO14001 and followed up the management review at Allelys, a large haulage firm in Studley. This was part of the overall audit schedule for the year and to prepare them for their annual surveillance visit by ACS at the end of March.
I attended the launch of this new branch of 4 N at the Badgers sett on Hagley Road on Tuesday. There were 37 attendees. Excellent venue and I met several new contacts including 3 with opportunities for clients in the south Birmingham and Coventry areas.
Borwell had their annual ISO9001 2008 surveillance audit today from AJ, a UKAS registered company. The audit went very well with lots of excellent process evidence for the auditor. A few minor changes to the text inn a couple of operational procedures have been requested otherwise nno process non conformances.
I have quoted a client in Evesham to put in the integrated management systems for ISO9001 and ISO14001 for them and to arrange for them to obtain accreditation to the 2 standards with a UKAS registered company. The client has now asked me to quote for doing the same for ISO27001 which I don’t do. I am looking for a local consultant who can put in the systems required for ISO27001 based preferably in Worcestershire or surrounding counties. Can anyone helpme with this?
